Bathroom revamp

THE ROOM: currently bathroom separated from toilet by concrete wall, total size combined 8ft x 5ft6.
THE JOB: Knock into one, new bath, toilet and sink, with power shower over bath. White tiled throughout and treat the damp, tile the floor.
QUESTION: How long should this take and what's a fair price?
Also, bear with me, is it better to have a set finish date and agree a [rice reduction for coming in late, or agree a price and bonus for coming on time?
TIA

Anything from £5k to £50k. You're being extremely niave if you think you'll find any bathroom fitter willing to sign a contract that is binding in time. Certain things occur outside of any ones control, but you think he should be held accountable. It's only a bathroom, not the Olympic stadium.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I'm not holding anyone accountable - I haven't even hired anyone yet. Yes its "only a bathroom" but, as you dont know my personal circumstances, you are being both judgemental and defensive as if this is a personal slight on you.0

It will depend on where you are, the local demand, and the nature of the work i.e. is the wall structural, or not, move soil pipe or not, and so on. Usual practice is get three quotes.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

Very unlikely you'll find a genuine builder that will face a penalty for coming in late and you couldn't enforce it anyway (since arbitrary penalties are not enforceable in contracts). You are far more likely to incentivise them with a bonus for early / on time completion.Thinking critically since 1996....0

I'm not being judgemental. I'm just telling ou the truth. As a contractor I would not agree to delivering a project within a certain timescale unless I was paid 3 times the going rate and the customer accepted that I would have 10 guys in his house 24/7.
If you don't like the truth, don't make posts on an open forum.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
