I do remember somebody odd singing a song at some point (but I didn't take notes/didn't know there'd be a test at the end) .... however, that Abide with Me is one of those tunes just like Jerusalem - my mum wants it at her funeral, we chose it for dad's. Everybody seems to like/have/choose it for times when you need a bunch of old, well-known, church songs to sing. It's "typically British", which is probably why they made her sing that.
She's good,, a very talented and successful singer but more importantly songwriter, but that song was not for her, it just was not. It sounded nasal and arduous. One of the delights of her voice is that its .....not like that last night.0 -

ETA: blimey, half way through the thread already.
I had just been saying to the boys thank goodness Paul McCartney hadn't sung......and then he appeared!
We loved it although it took middle son explaining what the hell was going on (he had made the connection from seeing Brunel) initially, then he got as confused as hell later on...so we listened to the commentary to give us tips.
Oh..and it is official, I am in a relationship. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Just got given a good strong packing box.... one of the couples staying here were trying to pack their car and they had an empty box surplus to requirements - and were offering it to another of the couples, who didn't want it, but suggested the B&B owners might be able to make use of it .... so I spoke out. It's a good box because it's not one that would crush when stacked in storage. So that's a win.
I bought a couple of batches of cheap boxes and they tend to collapse when in storage with 2-3 more on top, which has limited the height to which I could stack things safely in the unit.
See ... it's not just kids that find empty boxes fascinating0 -

I think the ceremony last night could have benefitted from a clear voiceover of who is who and what's what. Say, a storyline read over the top (rather than presenters making it up on the fly).0

Telly says more than 1 billion people tuned in to watch the ceremony last night.0

Hmmmm! None of the musical stuff much use. Waste of Emily Sande.
As regards the later music, what a waste of time.
The guests will be going away thinkiing "lovely place, Britain, but it's a shame they don't bury their dead"
And did the early bits with Brunel remind anybody else of an Electric Six video? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
