Another Friday so DH has been paid for his freelance work. Had a look at the rest of the month's budget and if I set this week and next week's freelance money to one side it will cover all the dds, including the mortgage interest.

This just means the business needs to be able to afford to pay us enough for grocerys and day to day stuff. Any remainder will go straight into savings.

We're going to visit DH's parents at Easter but sadly their house isn't big enough for us stay, but some friends nearby have kindly offered to put us up. Fantastic news as all the kids get along really well and our friends are really laid back so it's lovely spending time with them. It also saves us the cost of staying at a budget hotel, which is no fun as we usually send most of our time asking the kids to keep the noise down!

Haven't spent any money all week, apart from on grocery shopping, so have treated myself to some American measuring cups, mainly due to finding an amazing choc chip cookie recipe on an American blog. Looking forward to using those :)

    Hello little diary :)

Have found myself sitting down for 5 minutes (have been reading FortuneSmiles diary so feeling peckish :rotfl:) so while I was on here I thought I'd update.

Woke up this morning to a gorgeous, if cold day. Blimey, it's so much easier getting up in the morning when it's light; although it still takes about 10 minutes of cajoling and singing to wake up an 8 year old boy! Horrified to see the gritter making his way down the road this afternoon, please could spring stay a bit longer?:o

It's sl;mm;ng w@rld night tonight, oh dear. I have lost 1/2 a stone since the start of the year, then another 3lbs which I have put back on again in the last week  I blame the small boy's birthday, plus daughter is entering a cupcake contest this week so we've had rather a lot of those to sample. Then on Saturday the weather was so bad we **sharp intake of breath** ate my sister's Easter egg  Time to stop and behave myself again.

No spending though, apart from to Comic Relief and sponsoring a friend who was doing a sponsored sleep out for YMCA.

    So MSE wise, we have
    • Taken packed lunches to work and parked for free.
    • I had a concert ticket for tomorrow night which I've sold to a friend, so that's £35 saved.
    BUT
    • Washing machine has stopped, with washing still in it! Eek! That is DH's job for tonight.
    • My mum has kindly offered to have the kids for a couple of nights in April so we can go to a trade fair. It's just after our anniversary so we can combine the two and have a nice meal out while we're there. The business will pick up the hotel bill BUT I have, of course, shopped round to get the best deal!
    • Am going to have to pay for kids to go to after school club on Thurs as we're both working all day. It 's £16 for both of them. Can't tell you how much that hurts but there's only so many times you can ask friends to help out.
Any way, I will now go and do some ironing to warm me up, I don't put the heating on til 5. Then I have to hope it warms up quickly or DH gets grouchy when he gets in from work :rotfl:.

Sitting waiting for the new washing machine to arrive but at least we managed to get the clothes out of the old one! And I remembered to go through topcashback so I get 2% back :)

DH was really fed up that a new pump didn't fix it but I felt strangely satisfied. Although the new one is £239, the money has come out of the emergency fund :j rather than being put on a credit card like before.

Had an account tidy up yesterday, popped a bit more into savings but left £200 spare in the current account. Ok, I know there's no way we'll spend it but just knowing it's ok if we do is somehow enough! NEED to pop into town for new jeans though, my everyday pair is now too big, and my size 12s all have holes in them. At work I need to look professional so have a work wardrobe of Boden dresses. My normal look is wild woman of the woods due to all the dog walking!

Interesting chat with accountant friend who is 18 months away from repaying mortgage. When I told him my goal he suggested I just spend it! NO! those days are gone :)

Highlight of the week: new soup flask arrived! Must be my age :rotfl::rotfl:
