Well hello little lonely diary!
the rest of the money will be spent on a trip to Florida. Yes, I know that's not very MSE but we thought we may never have the chance again as DD will be starting secondary school in 2014. And the chance of a holiday like that with no credit card involved was too good to miss! We've never taken the kids abroad before and they're desperate for an 'aeroplane' holiday.:)
Thank you for reading.:D

The end of another week. Have made the most of today as I'm working the next couple of Fridays, then it's the Easter holidays
I've been reading more of the diaries this week which has made me even more focused on getting this mortgage sorted. Played around with some figures on the OP calculator, if we can aim at £2k a month we'll have it gone by the time eldest starts uni. Our main problem is that we're with BOI so paying 4.49% and currently unable to switch. Need to lower the LTA and get on a better rate.
Some action; have just opened a Nationwide flex account in my name so that I can transfer some of the savings across to get 5%, rather than the 3% that the 123 account pays. I think that once mine is set up and running I'll open one in husband's name as well which means we'll have £5k on a decent savings rate. Just got to remember to play money go round every month!
So new goal for 2013 is to save £20k.
Money saving things I've done this week:- Bought new jeans for daughter for 99p on ebay.
- Bought enough tshirts for son to get him through the summer on, yes you guessed it, ebay.
- Packed lunches all week and Aldi shop using £5 off voucher.
- Said no to girls' night out tomorrow night, don't think the wallet or liver could take it!!
Thanks for reading

Hoping to get to the beach this afternoon with kids and dog if DH ever gets home from work! It'll be a bit blowy but always feel so much better after a trip to the sea.Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Me too, you can't beat some sea air. Well done on making the most of being able to take a special holiday with the children. They grow so fast,

Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Hi Squirrel, thanks for popping by!
A lovely Mother's Day, my daughter made me a book of poems, and my son made me a decorated clay tile. Days like this you realise how truly lucky you are.
It's my son's 8th birthday in the week but as my mum is coming over this afternoon I'm making a big birthday cake for him which is in the oven as I type smelling yummy. It's going to be covered in chocolate ganache and smarties, little boy heaven!
Cold and wet here, supposed to be taking mum over to Cornwall for a walk and coffee before 'birthday' tea, rats. She might just have to come round for coffee at the mad house instead!
Haven't got anything listed on ebay yet either. Might have to wait for the next fee weekend as I haven't even done the photos yet. Must get more organised!Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Ooh, it was lovely! There were 2 bars of chocolate and a pot of double cream in that cake. Enjoy! :bdaycake:
And the best thing was, I took out £20 to buy everyone coffee/ hot chocolate (and boy, did we need it!) but as I'd bought the last couple of times, mum paid! So £20 went in the sealed pot :dance:Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Money saving ticks for today : we all had packed lunches, dinner will be leftovers turned into a delicious curry.
I would be upstairs sorting out and photographing stuff to put on ebay but sadly I have a small boy on the edge of reason as he can't get the hang of his new magic set :eek::eek:Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020
