Assuming I'm understanding your qustion, the items have to be identical otherwise it would not be a multiple auction.

For instance. You have 10 packs of identical playing cards. You can list them as a dutch BIN on the same auction and sell them off as individual BINs for a fixed price where buyers can buy any number they wish. Or you can sell 10 in a straight dutch auction where at the end of the auction the 10 highest bidders win the auction and get a pack each (actually a straight multiple auction is more complicated than that, but that is basically what happens).

Therefore it is obvious that all items in that auction must be identical.

  • i dont see how a multiple item listing could ever be for more than 1 different product, there's no logical way of that working, especially as you cannot edit the listing once a purchase has been made.

It does have to be for identical items. However I sell beds on BIN multiple item listings, and to list all the possible options would mean about 800 listings. So I often list for example a king size divan bed, and also show the prices on the listing for sprung base, and drawer options. This way customers can upgrade.

Before anyone says I'm guilty of trying to avoid ebay fees, I add any extra costs to the ebay invoice before sending it.
