buyer suggested sale

Hi

Its been a while scince I have sold anything (things have changed in my absence!! One of the items up, has got led to me getting a message would I sell for £x, including postage. Which is about £2 more than minimun asking price plus postage. This has never happened to me before.
So my questions are....

can I sell to this buyer if I choose to?
How would I do it so its through ebay?
This is the only person watching the sale...no bids or anything.

What are your thoughts folk.

Personally email them and say what is your email address i will email you a invoice from paypal and close the auction early.

That way you dont have to pay fees :-)

This would of course be against ebay rules, and not really very moral.

I think you can close the auction early if they place a bid.

you could always put a buy it now option on the listing and e-mail him/her and tell them that you are doing that.
  • I had a buyer do this to me a while ago. I listed an item at £2.99 and within an hour of listing it she asked me is I'd accept £10 including postage but I said I'd rather let the action run its course (it was a 10 day auction) and it went for £28
    Titch :)

EBay rules aside, I don't know how anyone can pass an opinion without knowing what the item is, and what you are being offered.

Is the offer the items true value? (based on past EBay sale prices)...... Is the offer above it's true value?...... Do you know the items true value?..... Is the buyer well aware that your starting price is way below the items true value?

If in any doubt as to the items value..... Always, (IMHO), Always let the auction run it's course. :)

    Hi

The item is being sold at the same price I paid for it (bought as a present but birthday girl was given another), however the postage I am offering is less than I paid. Will be glad to get rid of it !

So....... the total the buyer is offering is slightly more than I paid !!!

The same item will be there for the same price but probably higher postage. All in all its small fry (less than a tenner).

Mmmmmm its on a 7 day listing its ony day 2 now....... But if I do decide to go for it, would I have to edit the page and do a buy it now for £x??

If you wanted to sell it to this person the best way is to edit the page and list a buy it now but you can only do this if there are no bids, I would always do it through ebay if you can as this way it is (Supposedly) "Protected" and at least you have details of transaction etc!

I dont see why you cant sell it out of ebay and save yourself final listing fees etc.
Ebay /paypal doesnt give value anymore in my opinion, and as long as the buyer is aware there is no 'protection' with his purchase then I dont see any reason why not. I know it is against ebays rules, but this happens all the time...they are only worried about it because it decreases their slice of the cake.

of course, you've no chance of being covered inside of ebay anyway
