Previous tenant with lots of debt!

Hello,
This is my first post here, so I hope I am in the right place!
I moved into my current rented property in December last year. Throughout the last six months we have recieved a constant stream of letters for the previous tenant, i'll call her Miss G. I have never opened any of these letters, just returning them with 'Not known at this address' on the envelope. I presume some of them are debt related, i do not know for sure, but around two weeks after we moved in we recieved a card through the letter box from LCS Collections, telling Miss G they would be coming to visit her. This was passed onto our Landlord and no-one ever visited.
My partners works a night shift and at around 6:30pm last night there was a knock at the door. When i answered there was a tall, fat, bald man standing there. He said 'Oh Miss G, have you not received any of our letters?' I explained that I was not Miss G, she was the previous tenant and i do not have a forwarding address.
He laughed and said 'Look, you owe a lot of money to Scottish Power, and it needs to be paid'. I reiterated that i certainly was not Miss G.
He said 'Well, if your not her, which i doubt, you need to complete this form and show me some photographic ID'.
He gave me a form which asked for personal details, including Date of Birth and National Insurance Number. I asked to see some ID for him. He said 'Look, i dont have time to be messed around, just fill the form in'. I explained i was not going to give him any personal information until i saw some ID to confirm who he was and where he was from.
He snatched the form back and said 'Okay then Miss G, i'll be back soon' and then he left.
I understand that they cant do anything at all, as i am not Miss G. Im just worried because my partner works nights and i am alone. I am concerned he may come back tonight, and im worried there may be two of them next time.
My parents will be visiting me for a couple of hours tonight, so at least if he does turn up again, my dad will be there.
Am i obligated to give him the information he requested? I certainly would not be giving him that level of information without seeing some sort of ID.
My partner is livid, he'll be phoning the landlord later to try and get a forwarding address for Miss G.
I normally wouldnt let things like this upset me however i dont really know anyone in the area, apart from our neighbours who are away for the next month. I dont enjoy being alone in the house at the best of times, and certainly not when bald men come to my door.
Anyway, i was just looking for a little bit of advice about what to do if he decides to grace my doorstep this evening, or any other time for that matter.
Thanks in advance

First thing is to not open the door to anyone before checking who is there.
They cannot force themselves in - if they remain at door then ring the police and then all talk together.
Someone will explain better than meYear 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44
.1%) (42/100) payments made. Total paid 2019 year £1,700
Total paid 2017 year £15,300Total paid 2018 year £13,6000 -
Thanks for your reply runninglea.
I certainly wont be opening the door anymore, not without sticking my head out of the upstairs window anyway
Cheers

why not call LCS Collections and tell them you are not the person you are looking for, and tell them they are not welcome onto your property and/or your doorstep and if they do come you will call the police. there are plenty of templetes on here.0

Agree with this. You'll have more luck than with the landlord.Total Debt Sept 2010 - £24,132.38 / Current - £0.00/ 100% paid
DFD - [STRIKE]Aug 2014[/STRIKE] 24th Aug 2012
£10 a day // Jun - £64/£300 / Jul - £133/£310 / Aug - £281/£3100 -
But you are a Miss G though, lol:rotfl: You did the right thing though; you should never give your national insurance number to anyone except work or something I believe... Just ignore them, maybe arm yourself with a bat as well. Always better safe than sorry, Miss G;)0

Hi dt3887,
Thanks for your reply.
Im not entirely sure that the 'gentleman caller' was from LCS Collections. He didnt at any point say where he was from, which is why i asked him for some ID. I thought it was strange that he didnt introduce himself.
Im a little reluctant to call them. I might make the other half do it
I havent opened any of the letters for Miss G, so i dont know who is chasing her for what. I just send them back.
I understand that LCS Collections do work on behalf of utility companies so it possibly could have been them, i'm not entirely sure though.
I dont have much experience in dealing with DCA's.
