Egg was set up and owned outright until recently by Prudential Corporation who I 'think' are still the second largest insurance company in Britain. On that basis I would expect that to insure with them is O.K.
However, I think that Egg has been sold recently to Citycorp (a huge American owned banking company) so you may wish to shop around at renewal.
Hope that helps........I have retired from a career in Financial Services........Thank God. Any advice given may be as a result of senile dementia so dont take it too seriously.......

Just had a look at the Egg website and it appears that their Home & Contents insurance is now underwriten by the huge company AXA so you should still be ok with them...........I have retired from a career in Financial Services........Thank God. I used to have my insurance with them - never had to claim though. Now I just go via Quidco for my insurance - my total bill for house and contents after Quidco cashback this year worked out at £12!!!!! (I actually got paid £2 to have my insurance with Esure.com!!!!). I am now with Prudential (who owns Egg) for my car insurance.0
