My daughter has a perforated ear drum (and chicken pox - oh joy), anyhow, she was in hospital yesterday and they gave her antibiotics for her ear and told me I cant get it wet for 6 weeks!
I asked how am i meant to wash her hair - they said cover her ear somehow. Not sure how to achieve this, if anyone has any ideas then i'm all ears:D

Maybe a soft earplug, then cover the ear with something akin to an eyepatch in plastic?? Lateral thinking required!0

Didnt really want to put anything in her ear, sorry i should have said that. They said her eardrum was bulging out and its very sore. Maybe once the infection has gone that may be an option. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

sit her in the bath and lean her head to the side thats not sore i.e good ear facing the bottom of the bath.
Wash carefully and rinse carefully - similar way to ensuring bubbles don't get in a baby's eyes.
Other option is something similar tho this http://www.virtualvillage.co.uk/baby-child-shampoo-bath-shield-safe-safety-guard-visor-004310-005.html?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=shcomp&utm_campaign=google_shopping_feedFat and proud lol0 -

Have personal experience of this. Get a large piece of cotton wool (enough to go into the outer ear) and really coat it in vaseline. Put this in the outer ear and smear more vaseline over the top of it (put the hair up whilst you do this), then get a small freezer bag and put this over the ear and twist it below the ear lobe, secure with an elsatic band. Using a cotton bud smear a little vaseline around the ear. You can now carefully wash your daughter hair and this contraption will keep moisture out.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Nothing else to suggest I'm afraid but just wanted to say poor her (and poor you
). She must be feeling pretty miserable right now.
Hope she feels better soon.Herman - MP for all!

Washing her hair seperately from her bath, with her leant over the side of it (or a sink if you have one big enough), and have her holding a dry wash cloth/handtowel over her ear as you wash her hair for her?0
