A friend and I are looking to go this weekend, leaving Friday and returning at some point mon-weds. I've found cheap returns with megabus but really struggling to find something going out there. Have looked at easyjet, some train companies, and megabus but nothing particularly economical
does anyone have any more ideas to try please?

It's a long holiday weekend so I doubt you'll find anything at rock bottom prices. What's your budget and where are you travelling from?
Have you looked at http://www.stenaline.co.uk/ferry/rail-and-sail/holland/0 -
hoping for under £100 each to get there, although that seems very optimistic
Also need to leave after 10am 0 -
Or DFDS from Newcastle if you live in the north. Overnight ferry so it'll be a bit more with a cabin but you'll save a night or two's accomodation in Amsterdam.0

As general rule you need to book early for the lowest fares and earlier still for Bank Holidays and even earlier when people can take a week off work and only lose three days holidays. As a general rule at this stage it is taking the best you can find or start planning for a different weekend ahead. Eurolines and Megabus should be cheapest but still won't be cheap because everyone else has already booked, Easyjet is always ridiculously expensive booked at the last minute, easy, not cheap. Just to give you an idea of the difference in fares, KLM want £330 return leaving on Friday, but only £138 if you fly next Tuesday, could you not change your date of departure as that is your biggest issue!0

easyJet has LTN-AMS on Sunday morning for about £107 each.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

£122 LGW-AMS with easyjet on Friday afternoon, that's not too unreasonable.0

Eurolines around £50 each for friday.
