strange attachment

I belong to a Yahoo group and recently a strange attachment has been sent with every message that one of the members sends. The attachment is called winmail.dat and shows up as 0.01 MB. It only appears on her email and it isn't a virus but it causes problems as several of her email can clog up an inbox very quickly.
Does anyone know what this is and how she can get rid of it please?

Hi,
Apparently the user is sending in rich text format from Outlook. Asking them to change to plain text should fix it.
