Tricity Bendix electric cooker

Can anyone point me in the right direction...?
I have a Tricity Bendix cooker... electric and the other week when I turned it on, it tripped the electrics. So I went in the shed and turned the power back on... and everything came on ok...
However, when I came to use the oven, it wont heat up.. I can hear the fan whirring but the heat isnt coming on... The hobs and the grill are all ok...
Someone has told me that in the back of electric cookers, the oven has its own fuse and that this fuse may have blown.. (apparently this isnt a normal type of fuse - its a blooming big one - ampage wise)
Has anyyone had the same problem and is it one that can be fixed yourself. Hubby is quite handy round the house.. if it can be done yourself... and it sounds like a fuse problem, where can you get these fuses from...?
Any help would be appreciated, cant really afford an engineer at this time... Thanks.

We had a similar problem with all the right noises happening n oven but no heat, I searched the MSE forum on cooker elements and managed to get one for about £15 and a friend fitted it. Not sure about the fuse thing though.

Thank you...
Is this a typical problem..? Does the element often break when the oven trips the electric out...?Hi - im a member of the Debt Help UK FORUM...0 -
The oven tripped the electric out because of the element shorting out!0

it does seem to be a more common problem with new modern cookers.
ive seen/heard of, more broken elements in the last 10 yrs than the whole previous 30 yrs.
does look as though parts are made to a price rather than quality these days?Get some gorm.0 -
I agree...our last fan oven used to eat the things at a rate of about 1 a year.0
