i my eBay i have a message from a member,not a question.
it is a contact from a member if i wish to respond there is a box at the bottom asking me to put in a 6 digit verification number i have never seen this before or maybe i have never responded to contact like this.
the question is, is this normal or is something not quite right here?

Hi, this is quite normal. It sounds like a member has asked you a question directly rather than through an ebay item.
The security number is a picture with digit overlaid that you have to type in, this is to stop robots from mass mailing everyone.
Ebay have also limited the amount of messages you can do this way.
Your message will not be sent if you do not put the correct digitd in that are displayed in the picture. If you have trouble reading them you can click to change the picture or click to listen to the numbers being read out.
