blank screen and bleeping noise on laptop

Hi i left my laptop on hibernate, then when i tried to turn it back on the screen remained black and it keeps making a loud bleeping noise. Any suggestions why this has happend would be appeciated. thank you

What happens/happened when you plug in the mains adapter and try pressing buttons like Esc or the space bar, moving the mouse, etc?

Press and hold the power button down for approx 5 seconds - the laptop will switch off. Now turn it back on. Does the same happen?

ive tried them all but still no joy. my computer is a dell inspirion m5050. There are seven bleeps followed by seven pauses.

On your DELL m5050 7 beeps on startup indicates a processor failure.

Is your laptop under warranty?

The laptop is out of warranty. I laptop is about a year and a half old. I will look into getting it repaired, at least i know what the problem is, so i will no whether im getting ripped off or not. Ive learnt about bleep codes too thanks guys.

Just been doing a bit of reading up on this problem with the m50xx laptops. Apparently the fault is on the motherboard
