I bought the rucksack on this deal and, while I agree it does not seem as "heavyweight" as usual Wenger luggage (I also have a Wenger suitcase purchased some years ago), it's still a good bit of kit and well worth the offer price (£11.95). I've just used it on a very wet and windy weekend in Edinburgh. It was perfect as a daypack and kept everything dry despite the appalling weather. In terms of pocket design and storage it seems well thought out. I think you'd be hard pushed to get better at the price...though I aslo doubt anyone has ever sold one for £39.99!
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!

We bought the knives too, almost a full set. However, we have noticed the same as our friends and that is that some of the knives are developing tiny rust spots on them. Surely this is something that should never happen to decent quality stainless steel? Though saying that, I'm not sure what they're made of.
We use our knives every day as we do a lot of cooking and we take care of them.

I do suspect that these wonderful 'offers' from Tesco are a little less than honest and it seems that this is the case on this one. From what other posters are saying it sounds like they might have manufactured sub-standard products and are comparing them to the "RRP" of the genuine article. Isn't that just called counterfeit? In this case possibly licensed counterfeit.

Don't even get me started on "RRP", surely that's the biggest lie going? The manufacturer 'recommends' that retailers sell at £100 and so one retailer buys a load for a tenner sells are £20 and claims a 'massive' discount based on an RRP that no other retailer would even dream of charging anyway.

Call me a sceptic, but I don't trust that any retailer anywhere is ever doing anything to benefit the customers that's not lining their own pocket in some barely-legal barely-honest way.

We need luggage for our holiday this year but first we'll compare this Tesco offering with others available in the area before assuming we're getting a bargain.

One last thing, to the poster who intimated that we should steal vouchers from unattended checkouts - shame on you! Is this forum about saving our hard earned money or petty criminality?

I bought the Wenger wheeled suit carrier at £34.99, its not available in every Tesco's as apparently its a special edition, mine came from the Peterborough Tesco Extra.
I travel overseas a lot with my job and I find the Argos wheeled suit carriers only survive about 5 trips with the rough baggage handling they are subjected to before they split at the seams or the plastic hanger hook inside breaks away from the case. The Argos ones also cost about £35 as well.
Comparing the Wenger case to the Argos one is like chalk and cheese, its much better finish, heavier duty material and has lots of useful compartments inside for your electrical items and toiletries. I would agree with other posters that the quality is not up there with the normal Wenger range but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. This is very cheap for Wenger brand and its still easily better quality than the generic cases you get from the likes of Argos etc...

One word of warning though make sure you put something on the case to uniquely identify it as I see a lot of the Tesco Wenger luggage on baggage belts at airports now :D

Tesco's currently have a deal where you get vouchers that allow you 70% off Wenger luggage.
    Has anyone claimed this?
I am always suspicious abou these deals as I assume that the product is cheapo crap. I've been burnt like that before. However Wenger make swiss army knives and I assume they are a decent brand.
This luggage is in Argos and quite pricey so tesco offer is good, can't wait to get mine

    Hi,

They really make excellent stuff.. I really appreciate that.
    Retail Furniture :T
  • Yesterday, I have got the 24 trolley suitcase which I am going to bring back to the shop tomorrow for a refund. Very poor quality. I went to TK maxx today, paid a bit more but got a fantastic deal for a much bigger suitcase with 4 wheels 360 degres.
