Help with a website counter

Hi All,

I hope someone can point me in the right direction I want a website counter, I've copied the code onto my website but it's just showing the code not the counter what am I doing wrong?

    If the website is merely displaying the HTML code as plain text, you've missed some element of the HTML out.

    Where did you copy the code from? What software are you using to create the website?

    It sounds like you've put the code 'on' the page rather than in the source html of the page.

    As said, depends what code and what you are using to manage your site.

    If it has a HTML view in your editor switch to that and paste the code there.

    When I've made a counter it provides a code I copy all of it and paste it onto the website but just shows the code instead :(

    Are using one of these online web builders? It sounds like you've pasted the code into the WYSIWYG (Visual) editor rather than into the HTML editor.

    It doesn't have a html editor on the website it's one of these 1and1 websites I have do I have to host it somewhere?
