Morning all,
Set up at home is a wireless modem with and external hard disk connected by Ethernet connection on which I store a load of music. Just bought a new internet radio for the kitchen which is capable of streaming media from a PC. It uses UPnP protocol and it streams from the PC just fine but it can't see the external hard drive to access the bulk of my music. Any idea how to set up the hard drive so that the radio can access it? I'm guessing it can't be done as it needs to be a PC with Media Player installed?? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Your hard drive may have a setting called something like "PCast and DLNA Media Server Settings" which may well help !
The other, less elegant solution is to map your external drive as a network drive on the PC then share the drive on the PC, depending on what the Internet Radio is looking for on the PC this may work.
Google and a bit of experimentation will probably get you there.
If you name the Internet Radio and the NAS I'll have a quick Google and see if anything leaps out at me !0 -
Basic stuff out the way first!
a USB drive needs to be attached to a PC to work (unless your router has the ability to mount a USB drive or the USB drive has a Network port)
Have you shared the External USB drive/Music folder in windows?
What program you using to stream your music?
Have you added the path to the USB music folder in the app you're using for upnp streaming?Laters

What internet radio is it? I have a Logitech Squeezebox radio, and access all my media through media server, a piece of software downloaded free from Logitech website.Without the server software running, I can't access any media. Perhaps you need some software.0

Thanks for all the replies. My radio is a wifi/DAB/FM unit called Magicbox Cleaver and the instructions for media streaming (mp3s) only go on about syncing the radio with a PC running Windows Media Player. The hard disk is probably a Western Digital model but I'll check when I get home tonight and post it on here. It's a small white box with a round set of LEDs in blue on the front (similar to a Sky HD box) if that's any help! Thanks againIn deep...0

When you say running Windows Media player, do you mean Media centre, or is it referring to the actual player? I'm just not familiar with a streaming device that requires the media player software (but it has been a while since I last used Windows)0
