We got some hardwood tables and chairs from Ikea last year - ready made thankfully! - it might be worth your while having a look there too?

Beware of garden furniture that is half timber & half metal. Years ago, that metal was known as "monkey metal" as it had little or no resistance and would snap easily. islandman

Not sure whether you prefer wood or metal, but we were surprised to find a really nice metal set (4 reclining chairs, table, adjustable parasol) on the Kays web site for about £120. It's really good quality, and is silver with dark blue. Looks really smart in the garden and you can leave it out in pretty much any weather :-)

Like the above poster, I saw some in Homebase reduced, but can't remember styles or prices.

What I *did* want to say is this: if at all possible, hold back from buying any in Spring! Two years ago, we wanted/needed patio furniture but the prices were simply not in our budget - we bought an el cheapo £14.95 wooden table bench (like the pub/park one's) from B&Q. Not the most wonderful thing ever (did up the benches by making pads out of old shower curtain, old curtain and stuff with old towels), but, it did us through.

Last Autumn, we bought a metal table, 4 chairs with 4 matching cushions from Wyevale - £125! Wyevale have them in stock again this Spring, back at their original price .... £650 ;)

If at all possible, put the money in the bank that you are prepared to spend now ... make do in the meantime, then in the Autumn you will get at least double for your money!!

Oh, the wooden bench/table? I looked it over on Sunday (while I sat in my nice padded chair) ... I'm going to have a go at dismantling it and turning it into a potting table :D

Many years ago, we discovered Staffordshire Garden Furniture. Since then we've noticed they exhibit at all shopping malls, events etc. Over the years, we must have bought about 11/12 two seaters, 6 single seater, a table, a swing. We tend to buy them as Christmas or birthday gifts, plus we bought several for a sheltered housing complex. They arrive lightly stained and I always use Sadolin exterior stain. I know that product can be expensive, but it IS available cheap on markets.

The items themselves each have THREE prices. If you buy from the show exhibitions sites, it is one price, on line another price and I can't remember how the third price is arrived at.

Do a google search for their site.

just bumping this as my mum and dad bought from these a few years ago and they are fabbo. Now that i have the money i want to buy from them but i have tried to contact them, i dont know if they still exist as their number is unobtainable

    can anyone help please

  • These guys have a range of garden furniture (and some awesome garden ornaments too). Reasonably priced. My bench was delivered pretty quickly too.

    Hope it helps
