It's about four or five years ago now, but I got a really lovely wooden table and four matching chairs out of Woollies for about £100 total. I can't remember if it was a sale price or not, but if you've got a biggish W near you they might be worth popping into for a browse.
  • Robert Dyas. Have a nice 6 seater one with £100 off, it is still £299.99 but is a lovely set :j

Looks as though this is similar to the ones on the Argos and Homebase (looks as though this is Argos too now!) websites for £199.

    On a similar quest myself...

If you don't mind wooden then you could do worse than try Tesco... they had some quite nice looking stuff... think it was £100 for a rectangular folding leaf table and £50 for a pair of folding chairs.

Personally looking for non-wooden stuff, non-plastic stuff which can be left out all year and doesn't require any maintenance... The Kettler stuff ideally..

... just a shame about the price!

    Good luck.

B&Q have a great range of really nice stuff. Also have a look in TJ Hughes & Tradex for wooden & plasticised metal. And I think Woolies have an offer on garden furniture just now.
    £2 savers club - £62

    Relaunched grocery challenge:

March target: £150 on food, £50 on other stuff - still not doing very well at keeping track...:o

    :hello:
  • Wilkinsons have flatpack wood and metal garden furniture in 2 designs. Lattice and Flower, and 2 colourways - verdigris or "gold". The 3 seater bench is about £35, the table about £30, and single chairs about £20 each. The chairs are wide so suitable for large people like me, or can seat 2 small tots. So far I have a bench, 2 chairs and a table. I was going to get another bench, but I think 2 more chairs would be better. Warning - this is seriously heavy furniture. It is not going to blow over, and needs 2 to lift the bench or table. I liked the idea of mix and match to suit your needs, and the possibility to buy extra items when needed.

Thanks Naiad, just wish there was a Wilkinsons near me...!
Also, for anyone looking for wooden furniture, TJ Hughes are selling a wooden table and 6 chairs (I think) for £199.... (probably from cut-down rainforest!).

Many years ago, we discovered Staffordshire Garden Furniture. Since then we've noticed they exhibit at all shopping malls, events etc. Over the years, we must have bought about 11/12 two seaters, 6 single seater, a table, a swing. We tend to buy them as Christmas or birthday gifts, plus we bought several for a sheltered housing complex. They arrive lightly stained and I always use Sadolin exterior stain. I know that product can be expensive, but it IS available cheap on markets.

The items themselves each have THREE prices. If you buy from the show exhibitions sites, it is one price, on line another price and I can't remember how the third price is arrived at.

Do a google search for their site.

Saw that one today and indeed it is very nice and well built (not wobbley like the cheaper sets) unfortunately out of my price range :-(

Also I think I saw this today and they were selling the table, 2 chairs and 2 benches for £199. Very good value and also very solid partly due to it not being fold up. However its too big for my small garden :-(

    My quest continues.

    Cheers
