On the 2nd one, I'm sure you're already away but isn't it now illegal (or at least an mot failure) to remove the cat on petrol models if it had one in the first place?0
-
Yeah, MOT failure, but what happens if it is a non cat test MOT? Is it still a fail?
However, the cat is on the downpipe as shown in the first link....0 -
Note the (worringly small) warning in that second listing that it'll affect emissions and is for off-road use only.
edited for posts appearing:
It's still a fail on a non-cat test if it can't meet the required emission levels. Not many petrols can with the cat (or pre-cat) removed - some do, but not many.0 -
It's LPG, so if it didn't have a cat, it would pass MOT if it passed the emmisions, which most LPGs fly through.
Not that I am thinking of removing the cat, just hypothetically thinking.
I like that exhaust manifold.....but I guess it's a waste of money until the current one packs in, as no-one is going to see it anyway.0 -

it will probably go a horrid blue after 3 minutes running0 -
Still needs a catalytic converter.... Sorry.
New regs, if it left the factory with one... has to have one... Gone are the days where it didn't need one if it could pass a emissions test.
Whether a tester will care though... depends how friendly your tester is.

Hmmm ok,
However those new regs have not yet been introduced, VOSA has delayed them starting. They will start one day no-doubt.0 -
It's not quite that simple. The new regs on cats being present ARE in force because they're an extension of an existing testable item (the exhaust). It's only the ones that introduced new testable items (like unsupported wiring and steering locks) that have been delayed.
But the wording of the cat requirement is still causing a little confusion with testers because it onl applies to cars that "qualify for a full cat emissions test" (my bold). That suggests, and man testers are reading it as, if a car passes the Basic Emissions Test then there's no need to check presence of a cat because they only "qualify" for the full cat test at the point they fail the BET.
The full CAT test limits are "easier" than the BET ones so, if it can pass the more stringent limits of the BET test without a cat (unlikely running on petrol) then you still don't need the cat.0 -

There is an RfR for "catalyst missing where fitted as standard" under the exhaust section in the "new" manual however, so now I'm confused.

Good Lord that's incredibly cheap!
I saw on a exhaust fitters website they quoted £475 for a standard front down pipe for the corsa, included fitting.0
