Pet Insurance

Hi everyone!

I'm a forum newbie and was wondering if anyone could offer some advice in me trying to skim down my outgoings...

We have two 3-year-old very pampered moggies that we've always had insured, however I've recently been told that our premiums seem excessive. We're currently paying £26 for both cats through Pet Plan. We've never claimed, and hopefully won't have to *touch wood*.

Has anyone got any views on which Pet insurance companies are good/bad, and how have any claims panned out?

Thanks for any advice

    Hi

If the kitties do not have any on-going conditions, you are free to shop around.

Pet Plan would generally be regarded as a very good company and cover, although expensive.

Have a look at the comparison sites and check for levels of cover, length of cover or lifetime and excess fees.

You can compare the levels of cover here

The only experience I've had is with Argos Pet Insurance (5* Defaqto policy) - 1 claim about 15 months ago (for a badly cut paw on our dog) which was paid without any issues.

When the renewal came through, it had gone up considerably however- £11 p/m to £17 p/m.

They did however allow me to take out a new policy online for about £11 p/m excluding exissting conditions and no new claims for 14 days.

I think cats are generally cheaper than dogs so you should be able to get a better price.

Also contact insurer's websites directly and if you see any that you like, ring them to see if they can offer any further discount or benefits - they want your business!
