Mortgage company think I have a default, but I don't?

Sorry, what do you mean, 'go somewhere else?' And does 'unlikely to overturn' mean I have been turned down? They want to see proof of my deposit so I thought it might just be a small bump in the road but not a show stopper.
YBS have very good rates, I'm loathed to lose the deal.
Only the company that registered the default can do anything about it....no one else...not even experian. You really need to find where this and if it's you.
Therefore you need to see the root cause of this and get them to admit wrong-doings. If not, it's your word against a national bereua. It could take a day, it could take 3 months. YBS could have withdrawn all their rates 6 times over during that period.0 -
Ok, YBS are a nightmare but they would not make something up like £20 default.
Checkmyfile or Equifax standalone will give you the answers you require, although be careful as it may have been at an old address.
Had I been you, I would have said that I definitely have not defaulted for £20 anywhere anytime. The fact you said if they do not tell you, then you are not sure makes me think that you think there could be something out there. So go and find it with Equifax - as that is where it will be hiding...
My experience of all banks and building societies is once they say no, it is incredibly difficult to get them to change their minds. If you think about it, no-one likes overrriding a colleagues decision and furthermore you are putting your name on an overturn, which you are likely to get no thanks for but maybe reprimand if it goes wrong..
You may be loathed to lose the YBS deal, but if you cannot get it then there is nothing to lose.
If you genuinely cannot idetify the issue, print off all of the reports and go in and give them hell..

Yeah it's surprising what waving £60k around can do!0

So did you find out what this £20 was from?
How did you succeed?
And ofc, CONGRATS0 -
No, not really! The broker said it was £20 of 'open credit'? But I've not idea what that is or where it's from still.
Thank you, nearly there now!0
