Hi,

Recently I applied for a virgin credit card (MBNA) the application wasapproved initially but after few days I received a letter from MBNA fraudprevention which asked me to contact them. I did and they asked me to call backfrom my work as they wanted to check my employment detail.

The truth is on my application I passed my boyfriend's company as myemployer.

Am I in trouble??

Thanks

Recently I lost my job and wanted to transfer some of my balances to 0% card to reduce the interest charge.
Do you know what can happen?

a good old cifas marker, and nice decline as its fraud
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Why not say to them you have changed your mind and no longer wish to have the card. After all if you had received it you have a 14 day cooler off period to change your mind.

    Certainly worth a try.

Doubtful, but it would be reported to everyone who subscribes to the national fraud database, so pretty much all banks, credit card issuers, etc. Attempts to access credit in the future will give an instant refusal.

You can try and cancel the application now, but it might already be too late.

It won't be a matter for the police. MBNA are not alone in employing sharp practice when it suits them. In your situation, I'd simply embellish the story slightly by saying (if you can) you're awaiting the result of your interview as you didn't want to indicate you were between jobs. If this is a problem for them, ask them to treat you as unemployed and you'll update them with the new information later.

However, there are better outfits around, so you might be better off not having a card from them.

Not too late as the OP still has the right to change her mind.
