Sending money to Thailand

Not sure if this is the right board for this issue, but I need to send money to a friend in Thailand (it's not an angry ladyboy)
I was thinking using PayPal, but there seems to be a lot of fees involved. Is there another method of me getting money to my friend, it might be a semi regular payment, so I don't mind the idea of setting up new bank accounts etc.
Cheers

Check if you can send the money with your bank either online or in branch using their iban/swift code.I work for Natwest.0

I am guessing I can, but to transfer it to my friends Thai bank account will result in lots of fees? the amount I was going to transfer was not going to be too high, around the £50 mark0

It depends what bank you're with. I reckon it would be about £10.I work for Natwest.0

Insisting on more money or the she he will release pics? LOL
I think your bank would be best, I'd imagine it having fewer fees than a third party.SwagBucks Challenge: 402/849

Hahaha thanks for the responses. I have new idea but I am worried if it's allowed:
My friend has opening a paypal account in Thailand and is linking up to his bank.
I was thinking I could also just tie my card to this account and deposit money directly into the account and he could withdraw money from the same account into his thai bank account, is this possible/legal?

I use FairFx and Caxton cards for sending money. Send the card to the recipient in the post; once it arrives, tell them the PIN and load the card up online using a debit card. The money is ready to withdraw within a few minutes and will cost 2 or 3% of the total sent, which for amounts under £1000 is cheaper than a bank transfer.0

Paypal will be far cheaper than a bank tranfer.
Doing it in a bank brach will be by far the most expensive way, if you want to use your bank do it online.
Though ItsCheapInWolves idea does sound very intresting, I have never done it though, but it would be the cheapest way. (Do make sure you look fully in to it first though!)0 -
PayPal is nowhere near as cheap as it appears on the surface. They add lots of fees and charges to most international transfers.
Moneybookers is a possibility, but they charge very high weighting also along with a small fee.
The cheapest way of doing this given the very small sums involved would probably be to use a prepaid debit card as mentioned.
Another, better, option would be to get a debit card from MetroBank UK and send it to the person in Thailand, and credit the Metro account with small amounts as needed. The fees and exchange weighting for this last option should be zero. But you would need to trust the recipient and that is more than I would do.0 -
