Travelodge keeps changing its prices - check everyway

Strangest thing has been going on, I had booked a 15 pound room at a Travelodge for a date in July. A few days later my son (20) told me he wanted to come too. The room had gone up to 49. However when I checked a travelodge nearby, on the right hand side it said I could stay at my original place for 39 (as did the automated phone booking service). However once I clicked it the price went back up to 49. I called customer service and they said as a goodwill gesture they would honour the 39. I was to book a room and they would then lower the given price to 39. So I called up, now the room is 60, I booked it and about a min later I checked site - a room was available for 15. So I booked that too and cancelled the 60 room. A few hours later the room is 49 - yet it says 39 at side of the nearby screens. What the heck is going on?
Ps if you discover this when booking take a screenshot and send it to customer service

p.s. I do now have another confirmed room for 15, I just think something is rather loopy with their booking system.

I think it has always been loopy -I'm not very IT but it seems to be a bit like the M&S website -you can put stuff in your basket but if too many people try for the same stuff ie at the same time soemone gets let down.-it does appear to work in real time ? I usually mess about a bit and check a few days to see if the £15 comes back-virgintrains can be the same.
