How much are you watering it? New turf has no depth to its roots so you need to make sure the top inch of ground is kept wet until the roots have chance to grow into the lower layers.

I water every evening and really try to soak it ,but there are also gaps ,so I think I haven't watered enough plus I only just found out that you can use the hose for 28days if you have laid a new lawn , this is the 2nd week ,so it's probably dried out , is there any change it can be saved ,or is it ruined now

My sprinkler was on for OVER an hour every evening before the hose pipe ban came in ........... then the rain started.

The only thing you can do is water.

Yep we had a new lawn a few years back and we had nothing but hot sun on it. We even went on holday and when we came back it looked ruined. Grass is very strong and will come back, just keep watering. You may eventually have to put soil in the gaps with some seed to help it along. But for now keep watering don't put feed on it just yet.
