Well we have traveled a lot in Europe and the cheapest way at the moment we have found is with a Halifax Clarity credit card, £500 a day per card max and no ATM charges or interest as we pay money into the account the day after withdrawal. We also use this card for all purchases abroad and pay in full at end of month.
Works well in France, Germany, Cyprus and New Zealand so far this year.

When I was actually in Europe (Rep of Ireland) I used an ATM and got a fantastic exchange rate and was only charged £3 commission and £2.50 for using my card abroad.

Why pay £5.50 commission when a better debit card (Norwich and Peterborough, Metro, Santander Zero etc) is free to use?
