Yes that is most definitely incorrect...!

Phone again, and state there is a change of circumstances and that you request a reassessment..!

Explain that there is NO income and that they have been notified...! Ask for a reference, name etc, and makes notes of what was said, then put it in writing and send recorded delivery to make it formal...!

Phone straight back and ask for a Reassesment to due to Change of Circumstances....and always get the name of who you spoke to.
Or fill in the on-line complaints form, we've done this various times and have had a phonecall within 48hrs.

He needs to ask for a change of circumstances review. That will give a nil, or maybe £5 flat rate assessment.

Has he actually finished work or is he on notice that he is not required to work (gardening leave)?

If it would work for you as a family it might be worth you job hunting too then if you find work first he can look after your six year old

GET IT IN IN WRITING telling them you have called twice...!

The notification goes from the Monday following the notification i believe, but may be wrong, so that said, and no benefits claimed, it has to be a nil assessment...!

Send the letter recorded delivery, keep a copy, and if they ever chase you for arrears you can raise a complaint and provide proof of postage...!

Call again a week after sending, and checking online to see if received, and if so, then ask what has been done about it...!

Include a copy, of the P45 as well, it means they have no reason to delay things by asking for proof...!
  • Do you receive any tax credits? They can use these for the assessment.

So sorry to hear about your problems

We had a nightmare with csa when my husband was unemployed. They expected me to pay the payments of £200 each month as I was working and we were married even though the child was nothing to do with me. We werent allowed access by the mother which I know was a seperate issue. I had told them that we were unable to afford that and pay rent and bills due to husband not working and me having to support him (apparently couldnt get jsa either) and was told not their problem we had to pay otherwise they would get attatchment of earnings from my wage and judge would expect us to pay more. What a joke.

This with our other debts led to a downward spiral and we have just recently gone bankrupt but csa just dont care. They think all fathers are out to shirk responsabilities without taking each individual circumstance into account. My husband wanted to contribute what he could just wasnt able to for about 6 months.

    Hope you get things sorted

Surely this cannot be right???? No NRPP should have to pay for their partners child/children!!! If this is the case, then how do some NRP's give up work to be a "househusband", and the PWC' moan that they cannot get money out of them as they are not earning?

Is this not the case with people still on csa1? I'm pretty sure its not applicable for csa2 NRP's. Well, I certainly hope not anyway as I think that is really unfair.

No NRPP can be made to pay for their partners children.

They wouldn't have been able to get an attachment of earnings order for your wages.

Legally you don't even have to tell them your name.
