Help! Bathrom WOES!

Sorry to be a bore as I'm sure this question must have been asked a million times before.
I live in Thanet and need a new bathroom suite and am on a very tight budget. Eassentially I have £1000 to do it all. I can get a suite and end panel for £200 at screwfix but to have it fitted and to have approx 12x2msq of wall retiled (with me disposing of old suite, supplying new suite, removing old tiles, making good of walls and then painting and doing laminate floor all on my own!)I've been quoted £600 which I think is a bit steep:eek: .
Am I being unrealistic? I'd be prepared to pay my grand if I was getting the suite and tiling/painting as well.
Any ideas? Thanks!

If someone has quoted you £600 for fitting of suite and retiling. I would rip his hand off.0

Don't sound bad at all.
Basically hes doing all the tricky stuff & you get the donkey (unskilled) work. You can easily remove the tiles & paint after, sounds like it will only be the ceiling & a bit of woodwork anyway.
Are you sure about laminate in the bathroom? What about really good wood effect vinyl. Their are some laminates especially for the bathroom, but I'm a bit sus about laminate in bathrooms.
Quote sounds good though:j0 -
Have you thought of getting a good DIY manual & doing it yourself?
I did! (saved a fortune & everybody comments on my fabulous bathroom)
It's really not anywhere near as hard as you think, i learned to fit taps-even drilled another hole into bath as tap i wanted needed 3 holes & bath only had 2! i fitted waterfall taps that look fantastic:-

You can also tile over tiles, so that would cut out the need to remove old ones & making good the walls. Tiling is easy enough-depending on if you've got any awkward bits, use the money you've saved by doing it yourself to buy a good tile cutter-about £20 on ebay, or borrow 1=FREE!
Laminated flooring is very easy with a good jigsaw blade (again if you can borrow a jigsaw if you've not got 1 etc?), the tile looke laminated flooring is especially easy to fit because the pieces are so much wider than normal lam flooring pieces, so you only have a couple of rows to do, & if you put it down before you put your bath panel on you've no need to cut it around the bath.

I even managed to fit a black marble ceiling

Even fitting a new toilet turned out to be a doddle!
Also, do you 100% need new tiles? Can you not just re-groat them & give them a good clean?

How many days work is that for?
Where I live you pay £200 per day for labour for bathroom fitting and tiling.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
