Concrete Topping?
Lifesaver
I would like my front path re-doing as the old tarmac is breaking up. I was told that the cheapest way would be to have it concreted and then have some sort of topping placed into the almost cured base to make it more attractive.
The path is on an incline.
Does anyone have any experience of applying some sort topping, ie Limestone chippings in this manner>
Is this the cheapest solution to my problem?
Thanks for your advice.

I'd guess ANY coaating would only be a permanent solution, if the base was strong enoug to take it.
Have you thought of using gravel, 20mm size & just layering it over the tarmac?
If it's not a steep slope, it'd look Ok, without lots of breaking up & digging out, of the existing surface. If you price it by the load/tonne or whatever amount your local builders merchants supply it by, it'd be pretty economical.

The finish you are after on the concrete is referred to as “Exposed aggregate finish”
Details of the finish you want can be found on the site below….HTH.
