Car Insurance
Hi All,
I recently started back at work after maternity leave and had come back with a different car (a picasso 1.8, Y reg). I get travel expenses with work, but I have to have business travel on my insurance. As I've been off since I got the new car, I didn't have business insurance. I rang my insurance company (Swinton) last week to get it put on. My insurance is already quite high (considering the car is worth about £700, I've got 11 years no claims and never had an accident) at £38.64 a month. I rang to get business put on and it put my premium up to £43.68 a month! I then went on Confused.com to get prices from other companies, as I was sure this was way too high. The cheapest insurance (with business, curtosy car, roadside assistance) was £22. With Swinton!!!
I rang Swinton and told them I was completely unhappy with the price I had been given over the phone, and wanted the price on the confused website. After a bit of haggling, they said that although they couldn't match the price online (was an online special apparently), they could bring it to £29.47 a month. Just saved me £170 a year.
It's worth checking.
