Can anyone recommend the best product to help me boost the wireless signal from my router to the rest of my house especially upstairs?
Our router is located in the kitchen and have recently had problems with weak signal in one of our upstairs room from where we use our laptop frequently
Our service provider is TalkTalk and we have a standard home broadband package with a Huawei router
Any assistance is appreciated

If you don't have cat5 wired around the house then you need to use homeplugs.

Used in conjunction with an AP (access point)

Or if you have an old spare router at home doing nothing. Use that as an AP and it will also give you some ports to be able to wire in games consoles/Smart TVs etc.0 -
Or eBay a second hand router. Can pick one up for £10-15 and make into an AP.0

I would start by moving the router to different parts of the room within the limits of the cables or connecting it elsewhere in the house.

This might be a bad idea. I know on ADSL, my filter on the socket didn't work on an extension, only the main socket.
I have a homeplug link to a wifi access point upstairs, plus a cat5e link to an access point at the back of my house (router at the front), and a very long outdoor cat5e to another access point down the garden. It did involve drilling holes in walls though!
Also, not all routers have an option to function as an access point.0 -
i am on BT so dont know if it's the same, but if you can get into the hub settings try changing the channel that it uses...worked for me!spanky xx

If you want to see which channels are being used elsewhere you can install inSSIDer on a Wi-Fi equipped PC. This will not however show you what else may be causing interference; you need extra hardware for that sort of thing.0
