When we go on villa holidays we take with us things we only use a small amount of, so buying is a waste, for example, plain flour, chilli powder, pepper. We take these in sealable plastic bags.

When in hot climes, if we have a freezer we buy pasturised milk in bulk and then freeze it to defrost as the holiday progresses - so we dont have to shop too often - we do this with meat and fish also
  • Jackie have you asked for permission to post and advertise your company? If not your post could be removed.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.
  • I have a toiletry bag with miniature/sachets of toiletries in: toothpaste, shampoos, shower gels, toothbrush etc
    I pack that!
I have a bag with towels in.
I have a crate with tins and packets of food in, along with sandwich bags and kitchen paper towel in.
All I need to pack is my clothes and chilled food.
    Off I go! So simple!!

  • I have been a convert to selfcatering for years. I think they are excellent for families, groups of friends or even a couple. I have paid ridiculous prices to stay in high end fully catered accomodation. Absolutely lovely but broke at the end.
What makes these places so special? Quality bed linen promoting "thread count". Non-flowery bed throws. Cafetiere for morning coffee. Evening dinner table set with candles and quality food.
    I can do that.
Book average priced accomodation. Pack your own bed linen and throw. Fluffy towels are great and "boutique" soaps and body lotions. Invest in a holiday box which contains a cafetiere, cups and saucers, tea-lights and tea-light holder plus many more items to upgrade the self-catering holiday. For more details on the holiday box see "theholidayboxcompany" web site

For food pre-planning is the key. As we drive we take nearly everything with us. This includes quality wine bought at home and often taken to the continent. 2-3 pre-cooked and frozen dinners for evening meals and ingrediants for a couple of easy cook dinners. I do a big internet shop for all the food I think I will need for breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Enought to keep perpetually hungry teenagers fed. Happy holidays.

If you not meant to advertise your website on here, I dont care! I enjoyed reading it!
