Tesco online fiasco

Sorry if this is in the the wrong area...

Tried to go online today to pa y my Tesco Credit Card. Good news they finally decided to add more functionality by changing the navigation of the site. Bad news, they have not added my Payment history and I have to add my dierect debit card details again as well as set up a direct debit for my bank again.

I rang them and they are saying that enhanced security featues have been added to the system. When I pressed them further it seems that when some customers re-added their direct debit card again they got their payment history back. This all sounds pretty hit and miss to me.

In short, they have screwed up migrating customer data correctly and now I am left with the feeling that they are covering up this mistake. I certainly will not use the online sevice until they can assure me the system is stable and working. After all will they also lose my online payment if I had done it online today?

Do you mean "direct debit" or "debit card"? I've never heard of a "direct debit card"...

eek ive to pay mine just waiting for it to come thru the door, need to check my info is not lost!
  • i paid off £900 of my balance on Thursday and although i can see the payment on the statement, it hasn't been applied and i cant use my card which presently has £0.00 available balance. I phoned them today and the bloke i was talking to came off with some b*****ks about my faster payment from my bank being held because it had been flagged up for additional security checks which can take up to 7 working days.

My wife and i have just split up so my card has been taking quite a hammering (thankfully still within interest free period) and i need to be able to use it.

So, i asked to speak to a manager, got basically told that if i wished to make a complaint the advisor could take it, and then he offered me 1000 tesco clubcard points, and a refund on a £12 overlimit fee that had been applied to my account because the payment hadn't cleared provided i agree that the issue was resolved.

I think i smell some bovine excrement. I'm going to phone my bank tomorrow and ask them if they have any clue about this. Anybody else had this sort of treatment ?
  • My bank says they've never heard of any additional security checks so this definitely appears to be BS.

I have the same problem - I paid 600 of my balance last week - it shows as a payment but the credit hasn't been added to my credit limit - so all in all I now have a 2000 gap between my actual balance and available credit - I spoke to Tesco this morning and they guy basically said, dunno.

He has escalated it and I'm currently awaiting a call..
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

As expected, they didn't call me so I called them again. After 30 minutes going through everything and getting nowhere I asked to speak to a manager - so some 'senior advisor' came on the line and informed that due to another Tesco Bank 'systems upgrade' !!!!-up over last weekend when they left RBS, payments, whilst showing as a credit on their systems, are not actually clearing for a full 7 days.

So I've sent what I owe by FP and told them to close the account.

Thank you all for this topic, I was actually thinking of getting a Tesco credit card just for the extra clubcard points, but in view of your experiences, I'll just not bother.

Hope you all get your issues resolved, sounds like a complete shambles.
