Sleepright memory foam mattress lost memory

I bought a £600 mattress from Sleepright (online) 4 years ago. It is a silk pocket spring 1400 with memory foam. It used to be quite firm but now is really soft to the touch. It totally gives when you press it or sit on it. I have been into the store to compare and there is an obvious difference. I know that memory foam does go soft over time but how soft should it go? I would say we will probably need a new mattress within a couple of years (we would replace now if i wasn't on my second maternity leave in 3 years) which is not what I expected from a £600 mattress.

We had numerous problems with delivery 4 years ago and would not buy from them again. The online company ceased trading in the last couple of years and now a new company is trading under their name and buying from the same supplier.

As my mattress is under a 5 year guarantee, the mattress supplier has agreed to send FIRA round to inspect my mattress for any faults. If they don't find any faults, I am liable for their £60 fee.

Any advice?

Thanks

In this weather/heat memory foam will go incredible soft. We have various samples in the shop including Tempur which are very soft at the moment. Tempur if in a cooler state is rock solid.

Mattresses will so signs of wear and tear as such when being used, like most things. Carpets, clothes etc......The springs will have been worn slightly after 4 years so they may well not bounce up quite as much.

What base do you have it on? Sprung or solid?

Was the one in the shop on the same base?

As the base will make the mattress feel very different, especailly if sat on.

    Hope that helps a little.

    Thank you.

I noticed in being soft quite a few months ago but we did buy a new bed base nearly a year ago. It's a wooden slatted base from Argos. In the shop it was on a divan base.

We bought a Rest Assured pocket sprung memory foam mattress last summer for our spare bed and this is so comfortable in comparison to our Sleepright mattress.

I don't know whether this is normal wear and tear for memory foam or whether its life has been unreasonably short and if so, could FIRA spot this when they inspect in a couple of weeks?

Has anyone had to return a mattress under guarantee or has a one got any experience of FIRA?

    Thanks

My gut tells me that FIRA will find no fault with the mattress, but I'm only going on what you have said. The FIRA chap or chapess should know what they are doing.

Sleepright where or are part of Carpetright if my memory is correct and I'm thinking that maybe you have a run of the mill mattress that unfortunately for you was sold with a massive mark up. IE making not quite the mattress you thought you where getting.

Sorry I can't say anything to be more positive about your situation.

Thank you. Yes that is my gut feeling too.

Do you know what the guarantee should cover? Should it cover premature deterioration of the mattress, which I think is what has happened in my case?

mattress guarantees often only offer a refund on sliding scale ,after 4 years you may only get 20% back using silentnight as a guide
