have you considered changing your insurance type to FULLY COMP, might be cheaper than 3rd party fire and theft.
You missed Aviva which where the cheapest for me last year, waiting on my renewal quote from them this year. mine is due at the end of june, it seems insurance these days is high due to FAKE CLAIMS from those people who say they got whiplash and those companies on tv "have you had a accident that wasnt your fault contact us"
I got the full 70% discount 6years, and am, shocked at the price i have to pay £460 was the cheapest i could get, my renewal from Swift was £522, and every other insurer wanted more, direct line where the one of the worst at almost £900 for the quote, and if i read the small print when those ad's are shown on tv it says something like insurance this year has gone up by 17%, well last year when it said 33% mine was actually increased by 93%, from swift 2010-2011 £273 to £522 2011-2012 renewal quote so i went with aviva £460, even more so infact due to the price i paid for my vehicle which was only £300.0 -
Hi, try tesco compare - i found the link on this website for car insurance. I drive a C220 merc and my car insurance renewal for 2nd June came at over £1000 which i thought was alot as last year was near £800 and year before £600. All the comparison sites came up with around the £800 mark. However with Tesco Compare their best price came at £592 - and the shocking thing was it was with my existing insurers (More Than)!! Had to ring them to check it was right - and it was!! So i'll be renewing with my existing insurers for nearly less than half they quoted... :-)0

.......with mce, they no matter what try to rip you off and ask for money and i don't think you will be ever entitled to any refund from them
they for instance charged me 550 and when i got so mad with them to cancel it they said, the premium collected was 380 and the rest was their admin fee and breakdown cover ....
so they were giving me 202 back after 2 month of using the policy, in another word £350 charge for 2 month insurance, mother****rs.......
If you CBA then put a complaint in, the general FOS view is that mid term cancellations should be pro rata for time on cover plus an admin fee of up to £50.
On a £550 premium you should have got maybe £400 back
Even on a £380 premium you should have got close to £3000 -
I'm in shock my renewal for my insurance has actually gone DOWN, I need to check whats in the renewal, might be able to remove a couple of things they've added
last year £460, this year £401, max 5years ncd, even thought its actually 6years. they only go to 5.0 -

FOS will not look at any complaint regarding premium or cancellation fee. Insurance companies can charge what they like. It is not regulate by FOS and they will laugh at you.0 -
I echo the poster who said you should get a quote for fully comp instead of TPFT.
I bought an old Astra as a winter runner the year before last. TPO cover was coming in at £440 whereas fully comp came in at £280.
Strange, but true.0 -

Sorry but that isn't true. The FOS do not have a role in determining whether a premium level/adjustment is fair (ie the bit based on risk factors). The FOS do however very much have a say as to whether an administration/cancellation fee is fair.
The FOS have made a decision in a case previously stating that a £50 fee was fair, I can't be bothered digging out the link as it's on these boards hundreds of times already. The fact they made this decision and published it shows it definitely is within their remit.0 -

All companies cancellation fees are £50 or under. What FOS cannot look at is premium. Therefore if a company charges you the correct cancellation fee, there is nothing FOS can do about the rest.0 -

Again, not true I'm afraid. Some brokers/insurers do have fees above £50 as we have seen from forum posts on here and is alluded to in this MSE article (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/insurance/2010/09/consumers-urged-to-fight-rising-insurance-admin-fees). There is nothing saying this is deemed unfair, the only published decision decided that in the case in question £50 fee with broadly pro-rata refund was fair. The FOS could decide that a higher amount is fair; it could decide it isn't. We don't know.0
