hot water on timer or leave all day?
Tried to find an answer to this but couldn't so what's the consensus of opinion please. Is it more economic to leave the water heater on all the time or is it better to put it on a timer. Years ago I think the answer was leave it on but just wondered if that thinking has now changed.
Thanks Sarer

It depends on your heating setup. If you have a well insulated hot water tank and a thermostat so your boiler shuts off when the water is hot I wouldn't have thought there would be much difference either way.0

On timer, by a country mile.
Boilers work most efficiently on full power, so it's more efficient for things to cool down more and then get heated up more.
And the loss of heat is less if the temperature of the tank is lower.
There's absolutely no benefit in heating it up when (for example) you are out of the house.0 -
Must agree with MarkyMarkD. On a timer has got to be the cheapest.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

hmmm i was always led to beleve that you should leave your water/heating on??
its the same principle for your car, better to leave it ticking over than stop/starting all the time to reserve petrol ??No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Not true for your car, either.0
