Lavenders are normally pretty hardy just depends on the type you go for, They definatley prefer sun though so try and keep em in your part of the garden with the most sun!
Hydrangeas. Tend to thrive anywhere the dirty little weeds that they are (sorry just really dont like them for some reason)! The grounds they like are similar to lavender but prefer a bit of shade.
Both of those plants are well established with uk clime's so shouldnt have a problem finding good plants.
Hydrangeas do seem to fit well with your creams and turquoise!0 -
Another couple of things I like, buy an old wooden french wine box, these can be picked up cheaply at carboots but are sought after so go early. LIne with plastic and use as a planter.Looks nice beside your table. If you can paint your wall, what about painting a vine design on it.Hostas, grow well in pots in shadier bits, and have that bluey green shade, and have a lovely textured leaf, you mau see small ones at carboots.
this photo shows hostas (the wrong colour though),periwinkle Blue flower, which are common (ie acquire some from a friend) ladys mantle (big leaves, delicate greeny flowers)All nice green shades.
