G-Sensor detects shocks/impacts. If it detects a shock it saves the file and doesnt get overwritten.

Dont forget if you leave it in the car its draining the cars battery and someone will probably steal it.

I've had three dash cams now.
The first was ok but not really good or what was advertised
it was a cheap £25 ebay one. The battery stopped holding any charge after about 6-8 months and the video quality was never "real HD" only resized video from a low resolution source.

The second one i had was similar quality in terms of video. Not true HD either and that was about £30.

I didn't want to spend a fortune on one but didn't want ripped off again either so i done some reading on this site
    http://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-comparison/

Most of the information is really good and this is from people who have stripped down the components to examine the internal parts as well to check which are using good sensors and parts.

I eventually bought one from ebay, but was from China. True 30fps HD at last, good video at night and only about £40ish delivered.

Unless u have a budget of a few hundred, then go for those recommended by the other bros. Lots of additional functions etc.

Else, if limited budget, can look for those with motion detection & internal battery (preferably those using mobile batt,.

    This ^^^^^^^

I have had a Mobius for about 6 months now, no problems with it at all. I bought it after looking at the Techmoan reviews.

Another vote here for the Mobius.
Ebay user eletoponline is a preferred Hong Kong supplier...shipping slowish but a reliable seller for just over £40.
The video quality is excellent for a matchbox sized camera.
The only downsides are no G-sensor or rear view.

I tried using Daily Roads Voyager app on my android phone, but it was a bit of a faff setting it all up each time, though it proved the concept.

I have the mini 0801 and would highly recommend it. I paid £60(non GPS version) for it from Eprance off ebay and paid about another £14 for a 32GB micro SD card off ebay(class 6 is best for this cam). Techmoan said "this is the one to get" in his review.
