Brighthouse - OSC?????

I have a TV threw Bright house. I got the TV in October 2010 and currently pay £9.19 a week (it has about 30 weeks left) When i got the TV a was told i had to have the "Optional Service cover" i have been thinking about it a lot lately as im skint and it currently is about half of the weekly fee! I just want to get the TV paid off and never deal with them again! Shall i cancel it and could i claim it back? As it clearly is called "Optional" yet i was told i had to have it? Thanks

This depends what it covered, have you got the policy that tells you what this cover is for?, if it covers you for anything that your house insurance would (if you have accidental damage on your house insurance) then put a claim in and cancel the PPI, why would you need 2 lots of the same cover?.

I dont have home cover but my point was its called Optional Service Cover yet i was told i HAD to have it!?
  • I have a tv also with Brighthouse. I think if you have home contents policy and can show them proof you don't have to have it hence the optional. If you have no contents policy you have to. Well, thats how I read it though. I agree though, it is about half the weekly payment but sometimes we have no option but to use companies like these.

All my expensive items are on their way out, had them all for years and years - washing machine will be surely next.

you were you had to have something that was marked optional?

    1. Have you evidence to prove you were told that?
    2. It was marked optional, that tells you depsite what you were told, you didnt need to have it.

Insurance premiums are not reclaimable despite what you read. The service cover is an extended warranty which isnt even PPI.

Home insurance wont cover a TV if it no longer turns on or the the picture goes on the blink. Only if their was accidental damage.
  • We had a tv which the sound was failing on we thought like roonaldo that this was not covered so bought another tv when my wife rang to cancel the cover of the original tv she was told we could have claimed for a new tv
  • Thread is from 2012 and has little to do with PPI or reclaiming any insurance.
