Cancellation Charge!

I cancelled my insurance policy last week as I had found a much cheaper alternative on confused.com. I was rather shocked to see bell insurance want to charge me £50 to cancel this policy, I thought this a bit rich as I have paid them hundreds of pounds over the years and never made a claim.
I notice that the banks are refunding these charges as they are way over the top. Has anyone challanged their insurance company over these charges and what was the result.
Regards
Denny

Not the same thing as bank charges at all, so you can't claim them back.
You accepted the terms and conditions when you took out the policy.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:A

The charges from the banks are penalty charges and so are seen to be unlawful. The charge to cancel your insurance is a service charge and formed part of the terms and conditions of your insurance.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0
