1st direct, paying in £1500

Hello all,

I am thinking of opening an account to get the £125 cash back, my question is does the £1500 have to be paid in by salary in one hit or can I just make sure £1500 goes through the account each month?

Oh, and do they really give you another £100 if you leave after. 6 months? Thanks. P

    1) Bits and bobs is fine. Or just open their easy access savings account with £1 to bypass the £1,500 requirement.

    2) There have been posters on here who have confirmed receipt.

...but be aware that doing this (even in one month only) will prevent you from receiving the £100 'leaving present' 7 to 12 months down the line.

    Here's the detail...
We'll pay £100 per customer or joint relationship if you close your 1st Account within 12 months of opening it, as long as a monthly salary or income of £1500 or more has been paid into that account for at least six months...

You'd also have to give a valid reason why you are unhappy to leave and get the £100 though.

Perhaps you could say internet banking is primitive. They might improve it for us then :-)

Is there anything special thet you need to do for the £125 if you use the esaver option? Or could I just click the 'apply' button in the link above, open a current account then open an esaver straight after and deposit the £1 immediately?

Nothing special, so long as you have a "Savings Account" not regular saver then putting a pound into this account meets their requirements to avoid having to fund the account with £1,500 a month.

As has already been pointed out already if you want the joining bonus then you have to fund the account with £1,500 from your salary every month. But as I've been a previous customer I'm not eligible for the joining or leaving bonus anyway. So happy to stick a quid in a savings account and then just use first direct for their regular savings accounts, granted you have to have their current account for that.

Thanks for all of the above, i'll open the account and ensure £1500 goes through the account. I assume it doesn't have to stay in there long! :)

Account and saver now opened! Will make sure that £1500 goes through to ensure I get the £125 bonus and if I leave the £100 at the end but not 100% sure i'll leave.
