Should I be worried? (Computer dumbo, I'm afraid)

Suzy_Babe wrote:Thanks, Toxteth - you've put my mind at rest. Now I just have to sort out re why I keep getting worldwide sites listed when I request UK only! But then, at least there's no danger of me getting charged megabucks for that.
Once again, thanks!

Have you tried doing the search worldwide and UK only? Any differences in the number of sites found?0 -
Yes - quite a big difference, actually. But the 'UK only' still showed a (relatively) high number of USA sites. Maybe I am being naive, but I thought that it would only show UK sites. (It was only last year that I became brave enough to purchase over the internet from UK-based companies - to purchase from abroad, with prices shown in a different currency, sends me into a panic!)If it's cheap, I'm cheerful!0

Remember not all .coms are in the USA. Though I think I have noticed that a UK search can produce sites apparently in the USA. Perhaps they are hosted in the UK though or the registrant of the site has a UK address, or the registrant's agent is in the UK.
I don't really know, but I am sure they will be a logical explanation that the experts can expound on. It certainly isn't due to what you suspected, though!0 -
If you're worried about buying form a site:
(a) Don't buy
(b) Go to the 'Contact Us' or 'About Us' link and see where the company's from
(c) Google for the company name and see if you can dig up any dirt.
(d) Keep drinking the champagne and then it all becomes a painless blur anyways
