Purchase interest free period shorter

Hi

I was just wondering if anyone knew the answer to the following:

If the interest free period for purchases is 3mnths and balance transfers is 17mnths, will any payments go towards the purchases in the first free months, so this is paid off before it enters a higher interest rate time period?

It would go to the purchases before the BT due to that offer ending first.

...but possibly, depending on the provider, only to statemented purchases, meaning it's sometimes not possible to avoid a small amount of interest 'overhang' at the end of the purchases 0% introductory period.

Safest way, even since the 'rules' were changed, is to keep purchases and BTs on different cards.
