^^^ sound like you work for them!
I completely understand why you wouldn't want to wear a similar dress to your friend, my friend gets married a year before me but we made sure we're not wearing the same dress just in case!
I'd be careful of online dress sales. I bought my veil from a company which I thought were okay and they said they were based in the UK, however when it arrived it was really poor quality and the packaging note with it was clearly written by someone with little grasp of the English language.
Just be careful
Hope you get it sorted xxx0 -
have you considered getting it changed by a taylor with my dress I had covered buttons added and left off the flowers that were part of the original design. I can understand where you're coming from and wondered if you considered charity shop wedding dresses.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

Let me give you a few words of advice about 1dress.co.uk - DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT WHAT YOU ORDER FROM THEM IS WHAT YOU WANT AND THAT IT WILL FIT YOU STRAIGHT OUT OF THE PACKAGING! My daughter ordered 3 dresses from them as she wasn't sure which size would best fit her. One of the three fitted her like a glove and she looked wonderful going to her school Christmas Ball. But, when she wanted to return the other two dresses, the whole experience became an absolute nightmare.
Firstly, you can only contact them by email. Unbeknown to us at the time of ordering they are based in China! Secondly when contacted by email to ask how to return the items, this was the response she got:
Nice day!
I'm really sorry to hear that.
Will you pls tell me the order no. and what's wrong with the dress?
Can you send me some photos of the dress first?
I would be very appreciate of her wearing the dress with a tape showing the measurements.
Attached is the instruction of how to measure.
Don't worry! I will try my best to help you.
So, we decided to return the dresses to the address quoted on the packaging along with a letter requesting a refund to my PayPal account.
Lo and behold they now claim that the address quoted on their packaging is not their address but the head office of the Delivery Company, who they say they have contacted numerous times to get the dresses back but aren't responding apparently - I find this impossible to believe of an International Company like DPD.
So as things stand I have lost £160 for the two dresses plus the cost of returning them which was in excess of £20.
So, finally, my advice, DON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS COMPANY!!!0 -
I have just read your post, and I am so sorry. However,my shopping experience was quite satisfactory.I bought a prom dress from 1dress.co.uk in Nov 2012, and I am very satisfied with their customer service especially when I left a wrong measurement accidently(I chose custom size).I was informed via email to confirm the measurements at first, however the email went to the spam folder and I didn't notice that.2 days later after I made the order, I received a phone call from 1dress.co.uk confirming the measurments with me and they finally corrected the mistake without any delay of my order. My dress came in perfect condition.I am so happy and really appreciate their professional work.
As far as I know, all the dresses sold on 1dress.co.uk are personally tailored from scratch.Considering the expensive international postage, the cost of labor and material, they generally don't accept return if the size error is not their fault.I personally think that is understandable.
Personal Suggestions:
If you are not sure of your size, you can have your measurements professionally taken first and then choose the size according to the size chart like I did.Don't choose the size you think you are.Choose the size after you have taken measurements!Good luck!Let me give you a few words of advice about 1dress.co.uk - DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT WHAT YOU ORDER FROM THEM IS WHAT YOU WANT AND THAT IT WILL FIT YOU STRAIGHT OUT OF THE PACKAGING! Hello dear friends.
I’m writing this post to warn every single one of you NOT TO TRUST THIS SCAM SITE!!!! It’s a FRAUD.
Unfortunately i see they have plenty of fake accounts that post positive reviews to many forums... but hope dies last.
Yes, they do business, yes they tailor the dress to your measurements, yes they do ship the dress with a courier service and it arrives to your door, but what happens if the dress doesn't fit or when you realize you just paid 5 times the worth of the actual materials for a TOTAL imitation result made of the cheapest materials possible?
I bought a gown from 1dress.co.uk last November. I received the dress mid-December. I though excellent service…
BUT:
First of all, the dress didn't look at all like the picture. NOT at all.
Here is the original picture of the dress:

Here is how it looked when it arrived:

You can clearly see the difference in the material quality. The rhinestones are made of plastic, and the whole chiffon is acrylic as well. It feels awkward to wear and certainly cannot be worn to the formal event it’s described to be made for.
I contacted the seller and received a reply, quite fast. Lily was the name of the sales representative. She told me I had 2 choices: I could either keep the dress and be refunded a “partial refund”, which was a mere 20% of the whole amount, or return the dress for a full refund (that was the value of the dress only). OK so far. I told her I would rather return the dress to CHINA, so they could use the materials for future use, since I did not like the quality at all and would not wear it. She agreed that all the dresses are copies of the original, and that I should “understand” why the rhinestones look so cheap. Indeed, the next day I sent the dress back, and sent her the tracking number.
1 month and 8 days passed since then, I've contacted them with 8 emails, and received NO answer whatsoever. NOT a single answer from them. I started to get suspicious about their sudden disappearance so I started searching a bit about reviews or other reports. Unfortunately, they have a 0% trust meter in the ScamAdvisor site.If only I had known this before I ever bought anything from them.
Be sure that if the dress doesn't fit you, you will NEVER get your money back. And the chances you will want to return it are pretty high, since all the dresses are only copies of the originals and made of MUCH cheaper materials. The profit the have must be enormous, since we pay more than 100 pounds to get a dress worth no more than 20. I claimed a report on Paypal, with the hope to get my money back from them, since 1dress.co.uk will not respond to any of my emails.
Be advised and stay away from this site!!!!!
Here are also all the emails we exchanged where you can clearly see they accept their materials are cheap and the dresses are only imitations.

OMG! Pleasedont say that, i just ordered a dress from there for my prom! I feel paranoid, oh no0

Read the customer reviews. Very very poor English. Seems to me that the staff write the reviews. Very unusual names too. Don't think there is one reveiw that is written well. Take care and don't get stung. Just because the price is reasonable don't get drawn in.0

Hi guys, i have used 1Dress myself. After placing an order for standard size 8 for 2 different prom dresses they emailed me to confirm the order and double check the sizes and ask me for a deadline date that i needed the dresses for. I had a little problem in the fact that they put the wrong house number on the delivery instructions but luckily ended up being able to source the dress and sort the delivery out (luckily there wasnt a number 42 in my street!). The dresses came rolled into the packaging which was about half the size of a bed pillow but once hung they were fine. Both dresses were exactly as expected and looked as gorgeous as they did in the pictures. My daughter was thrilled with them and after trying them both on made her decision which one she was going to keep. I had done my research on the company and read through their terms and conditions which states that no refunds can be given unless there is a problem with the dresses. I was completely prepared for having to sell one of the dresses and was quite happy with that, i certainly wouldn't of expected to be able to return them unless there was a huge problem. My daughters friends were paying much more for their dresses never mind getting 2 for a cheaper price! The quality of the dresses are lovely, we had the chosen dress altered locally for length and very slight adjustment on the waist which cost us £25 and even the lady at the shop said the dresses were great (she is that confident of their quality she has put the dresses in the window for us to sell).
All in all i am happy with the dresses which is the main thing, it was a risk ordering from China as many things could of gone wrong (shipping etc) but it didn't .... be aware you will be needing to pay duty once you've had delivery too so bear that in mind if you are budgeting.
Hope this helps to ease anyone's worries .. it isn't a scam site! :T0 -
