Dog went after a magpie

My dog Jack's blotted his copybook again!

Raced after a magpie in the park, snapped at it before I could get him back on the lead...I ordered him to "Leave it!" and he backed off. The magpie walked away (maybe unable to fly) and a massive black cat shot out of the bushes and finished the poor thing off:(

I feel terrible!

Oh no, what type of dog have you got? Don't feel bad it's not your fault, there's nothing you could of done to stop it happening. I'm quite suprised a dog caught a bird.

At least the cat quickly put the thing out of its misery.

Don't beat yourself up about it. Not many things die of old age in the natural world.

Thanks Beckin. He's a whippet crossed with a black labrador...so fast you wouldn't believe it. Poor bird!

If it was slow enough that a pet dog could get it, it was probably already injured or sick already.

    Zara "got" a.... cat once.

Deep in the wopods, no idea where this cat could have come from.....

She "got" it, flatened the poor terrified cat to the ground and promply proceeded to lcking it all over and wagging her tail like "mum, look ANOTHER one to take home"... (we got 4 cats in here. sometimes 6).

Of course run up to her, picked up the poor scared cat, put Zara on a lead and ;et the cat run off - she was not happy with me at all..... she so clearly wanted to take "her new baby" home....

One less magpie then, can only be a good thing.
Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!
