    seashore22 Hi.

I have no idea how young you are, but have you thought about a very light spray tan ?.

Most beauty salons can do this for less than £20.00 and it gives a lovely sun kissed glow. So much better than granny tights .. :D

I saw the comments about the MAC one separating too and not sure I would use it enough to justify the cost. As you can all imagine this wedding is costing us a small fortune and any budget solutions would be very welcome. Will see if I can find the Sally Hanson stuff and give it a try.

Also, has anyone used something like the Garnier Summerbody lotion (think that's what it's called)? It's supposed to build a gradual tan I think and I imagine there is less chance of it rubbing off.

Can't quite believe that I posted this thread about legs! I think wedding plans are finally tipping me over the edge!

A "proper" fake tan would be a safer bet than gradual tanners. Legs can be tricky, due to dryness around the feet and ankles, and I've found that gradual tanners are harder to get right. Fake tan won't come off on your clothing after the guide colour has been washed off.

Mandi - I'm 48 and I had considered spray tan for all of 30 seconds. At the moment I'm just trying to work up to having my eyebrows threaded. Getting down to paper knickers with a complete stranger is a bit beyond me for now. You never know though.

Do you think they would do a light tan on just my legs? Generally I quite like the colour of my skin as my arms and face have a light tan anyway.

Yes, you can have half body tans with just arms and/or legs - so you don't have to uncover any "bits"! If you had an old strapless bra, I'm sure you could get a tan over the bra if you don't mind it getting ruined.

I had a spray tan today actually! (I have a ball tomorrow). I opted for the paper knickers but she said I could use my own if I wanted. It's not as bad as it seems and they've seen it all before - and much worse I assume! Mine was St Tropez and cost £25. It seems to be developing nicely, I was paranoid about getting too dark. Mine was 2 coats, which is the standard but you can get 1 coat if you want minimal tan. Mine hasn't turned out that dark (mine was at 12pm so should be developed by now) so 1 coat wouldn't do much. (I am VERY pale naturally!)

went patchy with any gradual tanners I've used in the past. Agree with getting a professional to do it, it's a one off, enjoy it :)

Skyllo - have you tried the Sally Hanson yourself? I was looking at some reviews earlier for that and it looked like another possibility.
I've used this a couple of times, and stood in the bath to apply it. It looked okay but murder to clean off the porcelain though :o!

Reporting back as promised:D DD didn't go to the beach after all so still don't know about waterproof but she came home late last night after being out all day and her legs were still seriously perfect she had light coloured figure hugging shorts on and they are spotless, she is overjoyed and loves the product. It does separate but you just need a good shake and its sorted, the bottle is huge, heres a link http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/shaded/158/393/Products/Face/Foundation/Face-And-Body-Foundation/index.tmpl dd used C2, please note the colours are labeled differently to normal MAC shades.

I have used the Sally Hansen product in the past and found it a touch orange, I would recommend the No 17 range spray called glow, the colour is good and its long lasting and easy to apply, don't know about waterproof though. If your going down the spray tan route and its a one off then I would suggest go professional if its likely to be a regular thing then buy yourself some spray tan solution and apply yourself with a mitt, its super easy, much much cheaper and puts you in control, a £25 bottle lasts me about 4-6 months tanning once or twice a week even in winter - good luck and enjoy your day:)
Thank you for this site Martin

Thanks so much for all the help! At least you didn't all have a fit at the idea of bare legs on the mother of bride.

Lots to think about, although the Sally Hanson may be out because we are staying in a b and b before the wedding and would be a bit paranoid about messing up the bathroom. Might have a word with the MAC girls when I get my primer and see what they have to say about the body foundation.
