Build a PC

I've seen in computer shopper magazine that you can build an ok spec pc for £300. I have some knowledge of pc's maintainance but not too build. Is there any websites which provide good info and is it easy enough to build

It depends on your technical knowledge but basically building a PC is like using mechano or lego! You just slot the bits into place. You do need to be aware of what is compatible and what is not but a bit of reading on google should clear any questions.

This website / forum should help . Although a lot of it deals with tweaking and overclocking computer hardware, most on there are very knowledgable and can help with the technical questions.

Start off deciding how much you want to spend and what you want to be able to do with the PC. For under £500 you can get a good spec.

ive built hundreds of em. used to make good money too.
dont do it now cause its cheaper to buy em in!
esp at the budget end of the market.
can make more money now, sorting the SW problems out, networking installing/probs etc...

there are plenty of sites about that explain howto build a PC.
    try google.

Good analogy, I'd say it was more like lego than meccano. Much more pushing and plugging things together than much screwing and bolting nowadays. Very easy. All my pc hardware DIY knowledge has been self taught and it really is just a case of sticking together different "modules".

thanks, I have a pc thats about 5 years old, and have upgraded various bits, (hard drive, memory, dvd writers) so should be able to build from scratch.

I was looking to spend approx £300 - £400 but for this could I get equivalent or better from a main dealer??

Agree with you on the building of them :)

Last few I've bought I couldn't have built them for the price purchased, let alone put a legal operating system on them.....best deal was a HP 3000+ septron, 256mb memory, 80gb HDD, DVD writer, keyboard and mouse with XP home for the pricely sum of £129.00

Dell are always having good deals for less than £400.00 and usually include a 19" LCD, check http://www.dmxdimension.com/ for current deals
