Your cheque will not clear straight away

Are you not able to cancel the DD online?Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -
He isn't registered for internet banking which is why they said they couldn't access his account. Are you not able to cancel the DD online?
OP - if you sign up for internet banking you should get instant access to your account. If you can see the direct debits you can cancel them and recall the payments. Otherwise you could call and ask the dds to be returned.I work for Natwest.0 -

Just phone NatWest again tomorrow as they've suggested and I expect they'll be able to sort this OK for you. Don't stress about it now. I wouldn't start cancelling DDs yourself with your online banking.0 -
Could you ask for a temporary overdraft to cover it whilst it clears?0

No - it won't do that unless, exceptionally you've paid it in to the same Bank / branch it was drawn on.
And you can't cancel DDs due out on Monday at this stage. The file of debits is already with the Bank for processing.
Get them to give you an extended / temporary overdraft for a couple of days.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
