EDF Prepayment Meter Key Stuck
Hi all,
I've just moved in a new flat today with a prepay electric meter. I was asked to top up the account and as soon as I paid for it and inserted the key in the meter, the key won't come out and the meter doesn't show any changes in the balance. It is running on emergency credit and will last through the weekend. What should I do? Is it possible that I've put the key in the wrong direction (didn't use any force). If I've to call EDF (most certainly have to) how long will it take for them to visit - knowing that I'm low on credit?

I personally do not work with prepays to that extent, but a freind who does seems to think the key go s in both ways. His advice, not mine, is to yank it out with a pair of gripping pliars, if it breaks, so what. As no one seems to have any other advice, that would be my advice too, a bit of brute force. Its easy for me to say that, but my electric is not likely to be going off soon. My freind has never had that problem with a sticking key in his work on prepays0

I think I'd agree with the solution above - if it doesn't work you'll need to call them anyway.
However, the keys only work if put in the right way (a chip on the key lines up with a chip in the meter). There should be an arrow on the key and an arrow on the meter - pointing in the same direction.0
